At approximately 01:30 on November 26, Pol. Lt. Chinawat Thisala, an investigator from Mueang Chonburi Police Station, received a report of a fatal train incident on the Tong Khung-Nong Ri Road, near the Tong Khung railway crossing, Moo 2, Na Pa Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chonburi Province. Authorities, including a forensic doctor from Chonburi Hospital and the Trai Khunatham rescue team, quickly arrived at the scene.

The victim, identified as Ms. Wannee, 35, was found deceased near her heavily Honda Dream motorcycle (license plate from Sisaket). A freight train, No. 551 en route to Bangkok, was stopped at the scene.

Mr. Ek, an eyewitness, recounted that when he arrived, he saw the victim lying unconscious on the railway track. The train, unable to brake in time, struck her.

Ms. Parichat, 40, a friend of the victim who was riding a motorcycle behind her, explained that the victim collided with the railway crossing barrier as it descended, causing her motorcycle to topple and leaving her unconscious on the tracks.

“I stopped my bike and tried to pull her off the track but couldn’t. I pushed her motorcycle to the other side and kept trying to drag her away while shouting for help. Two people ran to assist, but the train arrived before we could save her. I had to jump away quickly, or I would have been struck as well,” Ms. Parichat shared.

Another witness, Mr. Song, described the moment he and his partner arrived. “We saw people trying to pull someone off the tracks. I told my partner we should help, but the train came too fast,” he said in shock.

Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the scene to further investigate the tragic incident.

Since the lowering of the barrier is normally preceded and accompanied by flashing lights and loud bells or sirens, she probably knew a train was coming, but tried to gun her way through the crossing before it arrived. RIP.
