Police Lieutenant Natthakorn Meenim, an investigator at Ron Phibun Police Station in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, received a report at 15.00 on November 27, of a 2 year old boy who tragically drowned in a canal. The incident occurred in Village 16, Ban Muang Ngam, Ron Phibun Subdistrict, Ron Phibun District, Nakhon Si Thammarat.

Authorities, including a medical team from Ron Phibun Hospital and rescue personnel, promptly responded to the scene. At the location, rescue workers retrieved the body of the young boy, identified as Anatta, aged 2.

According to relatives, the tragedy unfolded when the boy’s mother left the house to buy groceries in the village. Unbeknownst to her, the toddler ran after her.

While the mother was walking along the village road outside her home, which is near a canal and was swollen with fast-flowing floodwaters after a night of heavy rain, the child chasing her slipped and fell into the canal.

The strong current carried the boy’s body nearly one kilometre away. Rescue teams managed to recover his body, after approximately of an hour of searching.

The body was handed over to the family for religious rites.
