Teabags

Featured Replies

Does anyone know what has happened to Lipton teabags?  Hardly anywhere seems to sell them anymore.  Not great teabags but if nothing else is about,  then they are alright. but they seem to have vanished from Thailand.

Typhoo, PG and Yorkshire are all available on Lazada or Shopee, a bit expensive but all much better than that Lipton's cat pee.

Lotus, Big C or Makro all have alternatives to Lipton.

Typhoo is around 100bht for 100 bag, hardly expensive.

Tata gold loose leaf is 180bht for 500g, so even cheaper.

How does the Tata compare to Typhoo one cup?

I used to drink that but switched to Chatramue Thai tea.

38 BAHT for 190 grams, not in bags though. Just make a pot in the morning and bung it in the fridge.

I miss typhoo gold. Now it's impossible to find it.

Typhoo will be completely gone soon, company went into administration

People actually buy Liptons out of choice?

Yorkshire definitely my favourite, also like their their biscuit tea as a change.

In Chiang Mai and recently ordered from Greens

I can't believe no one is mentioning the best tea bags in Thailand: Marks & Spencers' "Extra Strong tea bags".

As do Tops, Villa, Central, Gourmet Market and every similar business!

Have you ever checked the ingredients on one of the labels on those bags?

From what I remember, it contains about 5% sugar, plenty of artificial food coloring to create that orange hue, and claims to include a blend of “secret” herbs and spices. Honestly, I’d be shocked if there’s even a trace of real tea leaves in it.

Take a closer look at what’s inside the bag. It’s like someone took a shovel to their garden and dumped the contents straight in. You’ll find what looks like twigs, dirt, and all sorts of unidentifiable bits in there.

Years ago, I used to drink it from street vendors, until I decided to buy a bag and inspect it myself. There’s a reason it’s so cheap.

It's funny how everyone mentioned other teabags but that wasn't question.  I just wondered why Lipton suddenly vanished from Thailand?  when it was always sold everywhere.  Just curious on why it disappeared?  Also was handy if you run out of decent teabags and you could just nip into 7 to get them to tie you over till you went to one of the supermarkets and got some decent ones.
