I changed my banki for direct deposit of my monthly check. What is the process of updating the banking information. I called the social security office and they said have to contact the Manila office, I sent them an email yesterday,. Is this  the correct process and how long do I need to wait for the information to take effect

Yes ... time, not sure about now, but I think it only took one payment cycle/month, and it showed up my my account.  That was a few years ago, before 2020, I think.

 

 

From the Manila SSA Office website.   It may by around two weeks before they respond....and they "might" ask for additional info and/or a signed direct deposit form if they want your John Hancock on a form....you'll just have to wait and see.   And I expect even if they took action on your email already that it wouldn't be until the 3 Feb 2025 payment that it would take effect.
