@ezzra Let us return, then, to the matter with which we began. It cannot reasonably be denied that Jewish Law, as embodied in the classical Halakhah, affords a legal framework under which the Gentile may be held in bondage. That the Torah should sanction, and that God Himself should thereby be represented as sanctioning, the ownership of human beings as slaves, would seem to furnish us with a rather grave dilemma: either the Deity is a capricious and morally reprehensible being, or else the Deity is but a fiction, devised by the imagination of man. I opine to the latter.
