People are so easily outraged these days. perhaps looking to be outraged out of boredom? The trans issue fires up these whiners endlessly. Way more likely to encounter trans in Thailand than in the west, the sensible Thais are not triggered by it. The longer I am in Thailand the more I realise the Thais have evolved more socially than the Karen’s and Kevin’s in the west. -

Helmets should be worn everywhere. The US has laws in 20 states where you have to wear them. Thailand has it everywhere, yet the laws aren't enforced but in large cities, and the most deaths here happen because of people not wearing helmets on motorbikes, which far outnumber the amount of motorbikes in a much larger country. All fines should go towards whatever the needs for money are, the court system and helping the poor being two. -

Does the inequality ever make you uncomfortable?
Not exactly. Here, TH, there is .... ... VAT that all pay ... income, if claimed, and sliding scale, like home country (USA), that I don't agree with, but it is what it is. ... excise taxes, for 'luxury' items, 🙄 such as vehicles, that make up 20-25% of the price Then there are the taxes in home country (USA), that aren't here. ... state/province, country, city, income tax ... RE taxes, after purchase, for life, even after paid off. (silly, expensive, and one I disagree with the most) ... school taxes for you free education As it should be. Before income taxes in the USA, ALL taxes were derived from import tariff & excise taxes. -
