January 8, 20251 yr I was driving back from Khon Kaen to Bangkok and was on the M6 motorway at sunset. There is one bit where there is some sort of a structure built over the road. The road at this point is on an incline and at that point the setting sun was directly in line with the exit from what ever the structure is. Quite impressive to have this giant orange ball blocking the exit. The photo doesn't do it justice. But what is the tunnel structure for?

February 18, 20251 yr I read that it's supposed to open to Korat by Songkran, and it will stay open. Can anyone tell me what is currently open? We will be driving from Bkk to Korat a few times over the next few months. Are buses allowed on the new road yet?
February 18, 20251 yr I drove on the M6 from Pak Chong to Korat 2 days ago. It finishes at the moment on the ring road around Korat. Easy to go North or East from there. Toll gates are being built now so still free, probably another 6 months or so. All 80 Km/H posted but most traffic at about 110Km/h. Sign saying only 4 wheel vehicles allowed.

March 28, 20251 yr I have been told the structure is there because the road spans a high-security prison and is to prevent "airdrops" on contraband from above. It's better than thinking it was an avalanche protection in the event of snow
