A heart-wrenching scene unfolded in Kamphaeng Phet when a mother arrived at the site of her son’s fatal motorcycle crash, only to collapse in grief upon seeing his lifeless body.

The incident occurred at 01:10 on January 15, on the Khlong Khlung Bridge, which spans the Ping River in Moo 2, Tha Makuea subdistrict, Khlong Khlung district. Police Lieutenant Chatchanon Sanitmak from Khlong Khlung Police Station, along with local rescue teams, rushed to the scene after being alerted to a collision involving multiple motorcycles and a car, which left one person dead and several others injured.

Upon arrival, authorities found a silver Honda Accord, registered in Kamphaeng Phet, blocking the bridge. The car’s front end was damaged, though the identity of the driver remains undisclosed.

Nearby, a blue-black Honda Wave motorcycle with a sidecar used to sell grilled chicken was found overturned. The vehicle’s occupants, Mr. Paramat, 35, and Ms. Supawan, 31, sustained critical injuries and were rushed to Khlong Khlung Hospital for treatment.

A short distance away lay another motorcycle, a red-white Honda Wave, also registered in Kamphaeng Phet. Its driver, 35-year-old Mr. Thawatchai, was found dead at the scene. His body bore multiple injuries, with head injuries and broken arms and legs. Debris from the crash was scattered across the bridge.

Mr. Thawatchai’s mother, 54-year-old Ms. Boonpeng, arrived at the scene in tears, crying out, “Why didn’t you come home? Why didn’t you listen to me?” before fainting on the road. Rescue workers assisted her, preventing her from approaching her son’s body.

Police temporarily closed the bridge to traffic while clearing debris and removing the vehicles involved. Preliminary investigations suggest that Mr. Thawatchai was attempting to overtake the grilled chicken motorcycle but failed to do so in time, colliding head-on with the oncoming Honda Accord.

The driver of the car, who sustained minor injuries, was taken to the police station for questioning at Khlong Khlung Police Station. The body of the deceased was sent for autopsy.

Thank goodness someone was there to get it on video and broadcast this incredibly sad and private moment to the whole world...  🙄
