In the early hours of 22 January at 02:05, Pol. Sub-Lt. Phupha Hongyakul, Deputy Inspector of Pattaya City Police Station, received a report of an assault at Pattaya Beach, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. Officers were dispatched to the scene immediately.

The victim, identified as Ms. Supannanee, 59, a beach mat rental vendor, sustained facial injuries, including a forehead wound, after being punched by a fellow vendor. She informed police that she confronted the suspect after accusing him of stealing her mats. The man denied the accusation, became agitated, and punched her in the face. She speculated that jealousy over her more successful mat rental business might have fueled his actions.

The suspect, who was visibly intoxicated, staggered to meet the police and slurred his confession. He admitted to punching Ms. Supannanee but claimed he was provoked by her accusations of theft.

Witnesses at the scene confirmed that both individuals work as mat rental vendors at Pattaya Beach. They reported that the altercation began when the victim identified her mats based on distinct markings. However, the suspect had allegedly removed the markings, leading to a heated argument that escalated into violence.

Police have taken the suspect into custody for further investigation and legal action. Authorities reiterated the importance of resolving disputes peacefully.
