Hi, would like to know where in Pattaya or near Pattaya if less busy office you go to get "affirmation of freedom to marry"

 

Can anyone explain marrying thai process please. Mainly I want to know where you do it and how long it takes to complete process.

You go to your Embassy.  Where you have to go will depend on your passport. (mine was UK and so was in Bangkok, no alternative options).

I cant go to Embassy without knowing what for I am going there. Also u need book visits online.

 

I called them and they said go to thai office and get that affirmation doc.

You first have to visit your embassy and get an 'Affirmation of Marital Status' certificate, you then have it translated by an official translator and then take it, or have it sent, to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to have it legalised.

 

You can then visit an Amphur and use this form , and any other form that they ask for' to get married.

 

( And may the Lord have mercy upon your soul , just joking)

Where will you handle the matter?  citizens who wish to marry in Thailand are generally required to submit a Thai declaration of the ability to marry (affirmation of freedom to marry). Contact the office where the marriage will take place to obtain the affirmation of freedom to marry. The authorities require that the signature of the citizen on such a document be authenticated by the consulate. The consulate does not provide advice or guidance on completing the statement.

A Polish certificate stating that, according to Polish law, a marriage can be concluded is not required.

If you need to have your signature authenticated on the affirmation of freedom to marry, schedule a legal appointment via the e-consulate system and bring:

• the completed (but unsigned) affirmation of freedom to marry (available at the appropriate office where the marriage will take place),
• your valid passport or ID card,
• a copy of your spouse's passport,
• a civil status certificate from a  civil registry office (presentation of this document is not mandatory, but it is recommended, as the process may be delayed if the particular record is not available in the electronic Civil Registry and its migration will need to be requested beforehand).

Remember! Contact the appropriate marriage registration office in Thailand and get information about the required documents for marriage. Be cautious when using intermediary agencies, as they often request unnecessary documents, leading to unnecessary costs related to consular actions before the consul.

That wouldn't work if he is a US citizen. The "affirmation of freedom to marry"   is an affidavit that is signed in front of a consular official that then notarizes your signature.

 

After getting the affidavit you can use an agent for the translation and certification by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA)

1 ) visit YOUR embassy and get an 'Affirmation of Marital Status' certificate - You swear a oath you are able to marry at your Embassy - once INSIDE, a 2 minute process.

2)  have it translated by an official translator  ( The CORRECT translation is EXTREMELY important )

3 ) Go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ( in BKK ) to have it certified - THEY WILL CHECK THE TRANSLATION - might take 24 hours till done.

( Take your "to be" better half with you for sometimes needed translator)

 

NOTE: IF translation NOT approved, there are 'agents' walking around on main floor to """help""" you - usually takes around 1 hour for you to get corrected translation. Then back to the Ministry for round 2.

YOU have to PERSONALLY swear the OATH before THE Embassy OFFICAL.

 

Been there, done that, 6 months ago at US Embassy.

 

Then 2 hours at Ministry of Foreign Affairs and done. Get at the Ministry EARLY morning!!

Fortunatly the Thai  marriage system is designed to act as a deterent for fogeigners.
