Bangkok Waste Collector Killed by Motorcycle Crash While Working

A Bangkok waste collector was tragically killed in the early hours of the morning of 3 March, when a motorcycle lost control and crashed into the back of a garbage truck while he was working.

 

The collision occurred at approximately 03:00 in Soi Lat Phrao 122 (Maha Thai). The victim, identified as Mr. Manat Panthong, was a former permanent employee of the Wang Thong District Office who had retired but continued to work as a contract labourer on early morning waste collection rounds.

 

Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find Mr. Manat fatally injured. The motorcyclist, who was also critically injured, was transported to hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

 

Family members of Mr. Manat are in the process of retrieving his body from the Institute of Forensic Medicine at Police General Hospital.

 

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
