Hi everyone..Im from a neighboring country the philippines and this coming september I'm going to work in Bangkok, pathumtani as a technician, I was wondering if I could easily be friends with thai locals since I am a newbie in the place. secondly are the girls in thailand really sweet and always smiling? just looking forward to meet new friends there and im very excited..my email ad is //email removed// incase you want to accompany me in the place and guide me..thanks

I'm assuming you're a guy, not a woman. Am I right?

does it matter? first question was simply one person looking for another person as a friend. Second question was on girls. Both equally relevant whether the OP is male or female

My take:

- it's quite easy to make friends. It's also down to the effort you put in. Personally I have found it's difficult to become really good friends, and develop stronger and deaper friendships with Thais, tho'. Although I have a lot of Thai friends, the friendship often doesn't seem to evolve beyond a certain level, as quickly or as often as other nationalities.

- as for girls. on the outside they often appear sweet and they do smile a lot more than other nationalities. On the inside not much different than most other Asian girls, and they vary as individuals do.

In general, most people are pleasant to your face.

American Guy, yes it does matter, as the OP reads differently (to a woman) depending on which sex it was written by. If it was written by a man, it sounds like he has mistaken this subforum for a dating site, which has happened before. If 'he' is interested in dating Thai women, he would be better contacting one of the sponsors of Thai Visa that offer that service, or even posting his request in general, where more men would be present to help & advise him. That's just my opinion, though...

Edit - I get this idea through the fact that girls are being asked about specifically, and OP is asking members if they wish to accompany 'him' (before anyone else gets on my case. :o )

There are people looking for friends, and there are people looking for "friends". Nothing wrong with either of them, but they're not really the same thing, are they? :o

Nor do they belong in this forum which is not a dating service. NR is absolutely correct, if the OP is looking for a date then this is not the correct place.

If the OP is a woman interested in making female Thai friends then that makes it a bit more appropriate to this forum IMO as moderator of this forum. :o

If there is no further response from the original poster then this thread will be closed.

Apologies, sbk (& OP). Point taken. I promise to wind my neck in.

Wasn't disagreeing with you NR, not at all :o

Since the original poster appears to have fled ThaiVisa,
