You can't provide a TIN if you don't pay tax. That's what I told my EU bank filling their FATCA CRS self-certification form, and they are very fine with that.

thanks for your post ... that's good news for you.

my home banks seem to be much stricter in their interpretations... over the past 20 years, i've already been forced by 3 banks (even as a long-time customer)

to close my accounts because my tax residence is in thailand ...!!!

everyone's situation is a bit different, and each person has to find the right solution for themselves ...

Tomorrow is the last day to hand in the offline tax return without getting a fine for not filing. 😁

And the day after that is April Fools........so f***ing what........

I am not sure if the laughing emoji is to show you are not serious but did you consider some people who have been desperately trying to file (whether needed or not) and who have been turned away may not find your comment that hilarious

are you American? or European?

my BOA closed my account as I had no US address in reality and yeah I have relatives that would cover me but that is basically illegal.  On the FORM7 that goes with the FATCA reporf there is a block to explain why one has no Thai tax ID number and mine too was accepted.  If American one can get a bank acct at SDFCU.org with a Thai address.  No problems in 5+ years!
