Otherwise, he'd be making lots of money there.

Has no clue.

‘I hate to predict things’: Trump doesn’t rule out US recession amid trade tariffs

US president downplays recent stock market volatility that followed his ducking and weaving over tariff policy

He hates to predict things.

Unless it's total 🐴💩 about a Democratic political rival. 😭

1. July 2022: At a rally in Prescott Valley, Arizona, Trump warned that Biden's fiscal policies could lead the country into an economic depression akin to the Great Depression.

2. October 2020: During a speech to the Economic Club of New York, Trump claimed that a Democratic win would lead to sharply higher taxes and "destroy our country," resulting in a depression.

3. March 2023: In a statement, Trump asserted that under Biden, the U.S. was "on the verge of a devastating... it's called stagflation," suggesting that the economy could enter a depression akin to the Great Depression.

4. August 2023: At a rally in Alabama, Trump stated that Biden's economic policies were leading the country toward a "massive recession the likes of which we've never seen before."

5. September 2023: In an interview with Fox News, Trump predicted that Biden's handling of the economy would result in a "full-scale depression."

6. October 2023: During a campaign event in Pennsylvania, Trump warned supporters that Biden's tax policies would "crash the economy" and lead to a recession.

7. November 2023: At a press conference, Trump claimed that the stock market would "implode" under Biden, causing a severe economic downturn.

8. January 2024: In a social media post, Trump asserted that Biden's energy policies would "cripple the economy" and lead to a recession.

9. February 2024: During a televised interview, Trump stated that Biden's approach to foreign trade would result in "economic disaster" and a prolonged recession.

10. March 2024: At a rally in Florida, Trump warned that the country was "heading straight for a depression" due to Biden's fiscal policies.

Projection, much?

It's almost like Trump is looking into a mirror and predicting the future.

Just substitute Trump for Biden.

Only if you promise to leave if Trump does more than one dumb thing per week.

Pretty please? 🙏 If I am wrong and Trump really does understand the stock market --post the proof here.

I'm sure everyone could use a good laugh as the value of their 401K account plummets. 😀

Agreed. 👍

Tarrifs won't make America richer and the world's most powerful man telling everyone there might be a recession this year -- look up "self fulfilling prophecy".

God, it's perfectly understandable how MAGA was hoodwinked by this ignorant Conman just because they're racist AF.

Great job 👏

Recessions are nothing special. Often good. 24 years of excessive spending. Had to stop.

Great job indeed. He has stopped the rot.

Trump is dumb, but i do believe he is fully aware of how stock markets work - it's probably his one and only thing he does fully understand, with maybe real estate.

Where did you get your Economics degree?

K-Mart?

Too late to get a refund.

They're bankrupt.

Recessions never seem to happen until Republicans take charge.

Just a coincidence, I'm sure.

Recessions are never good unless you're incredibly stupid and think job losses, lower consumer spending, and financial struggles for businesses are "good".

The short-term impact of recessions are painful for workers and families.

Duh. 😛

That guy can barely run a private enterprise successfully. Watch out how he will drive America into a recession, thanks to erratic economic decisions. 😑

Liar.

Total 100% porkies.

God, the KGB is not sending it's best canon fodder. These propaganda writers are terrible. 😭

Barack Obama took office in January 2009, in the middle of the Great Recession (which started in December 2007 under George W. Bush). The economy was in freefall, with massive job losses and a collapsing financial sector.

However, after the passage of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (2009) and other economic policies, job growth turned positive in early 2010. From then on, the U.S. experienced 76 consecutive months of job growth—the longest streak on record at the time. By the time Obama left office in January 2017, the economy had gained around 11.6 million jobs, and the unemployment rate had fallen from 10% in 2009 to 4.7%.

Actually caused by Clinton policies

financial crisis of 2008 was partly attributed to policies implemented during Bill Clinton's presidency. Clinton's Housing and Urban Development (HUD) secretary, Andrew Cuomo, introduced new regulations under the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) that rewarded banks for making home loans in "credit-deprived" areas, effectively lowering down payments from the traditional 20% to 3% by 1995 and zero down payments by 2000.64 These changes encouraged banks to relax lending standards and issue loans to high-risk borrowers, contributing to the subprime mortgage market's expansion.

Wonderful entertainment, from a distance. The Great Liar & Successful Multi-Bankrupted Businessman who hasn't a clue how markets work. Or anything else as far as I can tell.

Unfortunately, a necessary evil, at least in the defence/foreign affairs stakes. Just watch those sleepy Europeans waking up and leaping in to action. Not to mention the Sleepy Canadians. Gosh, even the Aussies are beginning to feel nervous. A wonder to behold.

Damn it trump. Fix the stock market, ya bum! 🤪

People who think they do know how the stock market works?

Pretty arrogant and naive if true that they would be billionaires and certainly not on here questioning others.

As of 2023, the population of Europe is approximately 742.3 million people. This figure includes both the European Union (EU) and non-EU countries. The EU alone had a population of about 448.8 million as of January 1, 2023

Susan, just to inform you there are more of us........

I always coach amateur investors who are peeing their diapers to just stay patient.

Buy the dips and the lows, as best you can see them.

Never go to cash.

Some great buying opportunities ahead as Mr Market readjusts.

Hi Mary, more of us to do what? UK left the EU. Most EU nations are failing.

Under Trump workforce participation rates reached an all time high.

labor force participation rate in the United States decreased by 0.2 percentage point to 62.4% in February 2025, the lowest rate since January 2023. Labor Force Participation Rate in the United States averaged 62.84 percent from 1948 until 2025, reaching an all time high of 67.30 percent in January of 2000 and a record low of 58.10 percent in December of 1954.

His Drunk Guy removed the reference to a WW2 era atomic bomber from a government website because it had the word "gay" in it.

What could possibly go wrong with an economy run by a guy who only hires "the best people"? 😂

The Enola Gay was the plane that dropped a nuclear bomb on Hiroshima, Japan in 1945.

The name was not a reference to homosexuality, but was given to the B-29 bomber by the pilot in honor of his mother, Enola Gay Tibbets.

Bwahahahahahahahahahahaha. 🤣
