A motorcycle-riding assailant targeted a checkpoint near the Koh Pho market in Pattani province on March 10, throwing a pipe bomb. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, though the incident has heightened tensions during Ramadan in the region.

The attack occurred at 7.10pm, as police at Koh Pho Police Station received reports of an unidentified individual launching the explosive at a checkpoint close to the U-turn before the district market. Surveillance footage captured the suspect in a white outfit fleeing the scene on a motorcycle, heading toward Ban Don, Village No. 7, in Koh Pho subdistrict.

Local law enforcement has secured the area, and investigations are underway. Officials suspect this attack is part of ongoing efforts to disrupt peace during Ramadan, noting a similar attack earlier this month at the same checkpoint involving a pickup truck. Efforts to apprehend the suspects continue.

In the preceding days, Pattani witnessed a deadly explosion in the Sai Buri district, claiming the lives of three officials. The blast, occurring at around 11.20pm on March 8, prompted a delay in further investigations over concerns of additional devices.

Authorities are urging residents to report any suspicious activity to the police promptly. The 44th Ranger Regiment reported the explosion in the Hu Tae Kor Lae neighborhood, within village 3 of the Troh Bon subdistrict. This attack followed an earlier assault on rangers from Company 4411 at 6pm, prompting increased security measures around the Hu Tae Kor Lae intersection.

The explosion near a pavilion tragically resulted in the deaths of Ranger Samai Boonyong, village assistant Maromli Mayadeng, and village security assistant Adisorn Doloh, further underscoring the volatility in the region during this period, reported The Thaiger.

Not surprising.

The new regime in Syria has started ethnic cleansing of Christians now.

What a sick religion!

the incident has heightened tensions during Ramadan in the region.

Ramadan=Muslims’ fast for 30days.From dawn to sunset.

Aim: To experience the hardship of hunger and thirst(among the less fortunate).

Reality: They tend to eat a lot more than usual, after sunset.

And the possible increase of terrorist activities during that season?

Hunger certainly makes people more aggressive and touchier.

Empty stomach is the Devil's Playground.

Very well said indeed...
