March 26, 20251 yr A neighbor just gave me a couple of these, haven't opened them yet but smells like lemon. Should have put something to show size, but they are about the size of a large grapefruit.
March 26, 20251 yr Looks a lot like the Pomelo or Oroblanco, which is a cross between the Pomelo and Marsh Grapefruit.

March 26, 20251 yr We have the exact same thing in our garden. Tastes like lemon, skin a bit like kaffir lime and size of small grapefruit. It must be some kind of hybrid.

In fact I just came back from Vietnam, and I saw a fruit just like this, and the Pomelo, growing in a few places and temples, and I asked my girlfriend what it was. She named it, and said it was sour and not usually eaten, so this might be what it was. I'll have to ask her when I talk to her later. That Ponderosa Lemon description sounds right. A Pomelo and Citron cross. Edited, yes its a Ponderosa lemon and this is the Thai wording...."เลม่อนพอนเดอโรซา"lemon ponderosa .or....เลม่อนลูกผสม......mixed lemon.

March 26, 20251 yr Ponderosa lemon Origin: The Ponderosa lemon is believed to be a hybrid between a pomelo and a citron. Its precise origins are unclear, but it is thought to have been developed in the United States during the 19th century though it may also have been the result of a natural hybridization. Description: Ponderosa lemons are one of the largest lemon varieties, often reaching the size of a grapefruit. They have been referred to as the giants of Florida. They have a thick, textured, and bumpy yellow skin. The shape can be irregular, ranging from oblong to round, and the flesh is pale yellow and contains numerous seeds. Flavor: This variety has a tart and acidic taste, similar to the Lisbon lemon. Their larger size, however, often results in a milder flavor compared to smaller lemon varieties. Uses: The ponderosa lemon is primarily used for its juice which is often used in cooking, baking, and beverages. Their large size makes them convenient for juicing, and they can be a substitute for other lemon varieties in recipes that require a significant amount of juice. https://www.liveeatlearn.com/types-of-lemons/

March 26, 20251 yr We have some growing here. I couldn't find a translation from Thai. My wife says there are two kinds, one very sour (somsa) and the other (somking) sweeter. They make desserts with it.
March 26, 20251 yr Kefir lime. You eat the leaves, not the fruit. That is a very nice gift. They are called Macroute in Thai.

I just checked and I have a lot of marble sized fruits on it. Mrs says it is used in soap and shampoos! Last year my bug spray lady raided the tree.
