A fishing worker who had been missing for two days was discovered dead, floating in the sea in the area off the mouth of the Maeklong River, Samut Songkhram province.

The body of 41-year-old Maung Win, a Myanmar national, was found by local authorities late afternoon of April 2. He had been working on a fishing boat but went missing two days prior. His colleagues had searched for him without success. The body was located approximately 10 nautical miles from Don Hoi Lot, floating face down and in an early state of decomposition. He was wearing only a pair of shorts and no shirt.

Authorities, including rescue personnel from the Samut Songkhram Benjatham Foundation, were dispatched to the scene to recover the body. After bringing it to the Sathathatham Temple for further examination, an initial investigation indicated that Maung Win may have fallen overboard and drowned. The body has been sent to the Nakhon Pathom Hospital’s Forensic Department for a thorough autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

Local authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
