A devastating accident occurred on the evening of 29th May on Phetkasem Road, Phetchaburi province, resulting in the tragic death of a pickup truck driver. The incident involved a pickup truck colliding with a 10-wheel mango truck making a U-turn near kilometre 152-600 in Hua Saphan subdistrict, heading towards Bangkok.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Jiraphorn Phoolpipat and rescue workers from the Sawang Sanphet Thammasathan Foundation responded promptly to the report. Upon arrival, they discovered the scene of the collision, where a grey, half-cab Toyota pickup truck with red licence plates, registered as ก-1230 Ratchaburi, was critically damaged. The vehicle had a high steel cage mount and was lodged against the 10-wheel truck, which was fully loaded with mangoes.

Tragically, the pickup truck's driver, 38-year-old Saneh from Suphan Buri, was found deceased inside the wreckage, his skull fractured in the impact. Rescue workers spent over an hour carefully using cutting tools to extract his body from the crushed vehicle.

The truck driver, 53-year-old Adirek, recounted that the collision occurred as he made a U-turn to retrieve his forgotten mobile phone from a petrol station. While executing the turn, the pickup driven by Saneh rapidly approached from the opposite direction, colliding forcefully with the truck's side.

Following the accident, police transported Saneh's body to the hospital as part of the ongoing legal process, and his family has been notified for the arrangement of religious rites.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with high-speed travel and manoeuvres like U-turns on busy roads. The community mourns the loss of Saneh, and the authorities are expected to review safety measures and offer support to those affected by this tragic event.

The way it reads, sounds like the ten wheeled vehicle  pulled a u turn into on coming traffic.   With a vehicle  approaching.   The driver by their own admission state this as what happened.   If he had looked before pulling out.....

I am not surprised at all.. I see so many pick ups overloaded and speeding driving on Phetkasem road everyday, many times they even drive on the right lane. Often they are loaded for 2 or even 3 trucks. But the where is the RTP to check and control?? And almost every 500m there is a U-turn. In my country sometime you have to drive a few kilometres to make a safe U turn on a fly-over or so, but here every petrol sation need to have one and all businesses, streets, and just name it... No wonder so many accidents
