Have Esan People Status Been Elevated

With the massive influx of Khmer and Burmese labor > now all the meinal work is regulated to these people where 20 years ago it was all Esan folks.

 

Even the terrible television soap opera series from 20 years ago always showed the Esan staff been slapped about while dressed in exaggerated dark face.

Everyone sadly enjoys looking down at a class of people. I wonder who burmese people look down at?

Issan......the BEST music, hands down.    Great food.   I think most of Thailand agree.  Most kids stay around other kids from Issan, so it's OK.  But YES, 100%, skin tone and money is a thing when you travel and get older.   I think it's slightly better now than before, but I'm sure they have been uncomfortable because of their skin color.  Elevated?  nah, I don't think so; however, Issan is vastly different between provinces and big cities.   Bangkok might be elevated.  The North still think they are smarter than Issan.  I have no idea about the South.

Im not Thai so I cant tell the difference between"ethnicities" of  Thais. They all say Sawadee khap.
