Authorities in Bangkok are investigating a harrowing incident after a 73-year-old woman fell from the 21st floor of a condominium on Charan Sanitwong Road, with the impact severing her body in two.

Police from Bowon Mongkol Station were alerted to the scene at approximately 10:30 on 25 June. The incident occurred at a high-rise residential building situated between Soi Charan Sanitwong 44 and 46, in Bang Yi Khan Subdistrict, Bang Phlat District, on Bangkok’s Thonburi side.

Emergency responders from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, forensic officers and a medical examiner from Siriraj Hospital arrived promptly. The woman’s lower limbs were found on the ground beside the building, while the upper half of her body had become lodged on a fifth-floor ledge, near the condominium’s fitness room. Bloodstains were visible on the building’s exterior wall, indicating the trajectory of the fall.

Initial investigations suggest the woman may have fallen from her residence on the 21st floor. While foul play has not been ruled out, police were informed by acquaintances that the deceased had been suffering from depression, a factor that will be considered as part of the ongoing investigation.

The building’s management is assisting police with access to CCTV footage and residential records to confirm details of the victim’s movements prior to the incident.

Police have not yet confirmed whether the fall was accidental, intentional or if there were any other contributing factors. The body has been transferred to Siriraj Hospital’s Forensic Department for further investigation.
