Obtaining a TIN without permanent address, or outside of the 60 day rule?

Hi everyone,

Hoping someone has some info for me, thanks in advance.

Does anyone know what this rule is about registering for a TIN within 60 days of receiving taxable income?

I  went over the 180 day stay a couple of months ago so now my yearly earnings are taxable and I need to get a TIN and do a tax return at the end of the year.

The problem is that I don't have a permanent residence at the moment, I currently rent monthly at a guest house and the only proof of address I have is a TM47, which is NOT accepted by the tax office as address proof. So basically, I can't get a TIN until I move to a permanent place in the next few months. I assumed this would be ok as long as I get a TIN before the tax return is due, but I keep reading about this rule where you have to obtain the TIN within 60 days of receiving taxable income.

Does anyone have experience of getting a TIN after the 60 days has elapsed? Or with obtaining a TIN without a permanent address? Will they still issue it?

The whole thing is a minefield, any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks
