The fire, which began in a two-storey structure made from lightweight materials, quickly spread, engulfing the area and causing significant destruction. The BFP has estimated the damage at around PHP 100,000, equivalent to about 58,000 Thai Baht. The exact cause of the blaze remains under investigation, as authorities work to piece together how such a devastating event unfolded. An impressive response saw 43 fire trucks rush to the scene, with 13 provided by the BFP and an additional 30 by volunteer fire brigades. Alongside fire containment efforts, four ambulances arrived, including one from the BFP and three from volunteer groups, ready to assist anyone requiring medical attention. As the investigation continues, authorities are focused on providing vital assistance to those displaced by the fire. Efforts are underway to ensure that affected families receive essential support, including temporary housing and supplies. The community response highlights the resilience and solidarity often displayed in the wake of such disasters. The incident underscores the vulnerability of densely populated areas with structures made from easily combustible materials. Discussions around improving fire safety measures and infrastructure are bound to follow, as the city seeks to prevent similar occurrences in the future. For now, the focus remains on rebuilding and recovery, with local officials coordinating with various agencies to ensure those affected by the tragedy receive the help they need. As Manila comes together to support its own, the spirit of community and cooperation shines through amid the aftermath of the blaze. Adapted by ASEAN Now from Manila Bulletin 2025-07-29
