Italian Man Attacked After Defending Girlfriend in Pattaya

An evening stroll along Pattaya's vibrant Walking Street turned into a violent confrontation when an Italian man intervened after his Thai girlfriend was allegedly assaulted by an Uzbek national.

The incident unfolded on 28 August, when Francesco Lenza, aged 46, and his 26-year-old girlfriend Teerada were accosted after enjoying a night out. According to eyewitnesses, an Uzbek man known as Yerkin Abdesshov reportedly groped Teerada as the couple paused to buy food from street vendors.

Enraged, Lenza confronted Abdesshov, only to be set upon by another Uzbek, Mukhtae Lbahan. The altercation quickly escalated, with Lbahan allegedly striking Lenza until he collapsed. Officers from Mueang Pattaya Police Station responded swiftly, separating the men and escorting them for questioning, where heated exchanges continued.

Initially hesitant to press charges, Teerada decided to proceed legally after Abdesshov allegedly insulted her, dismissing her concerns without remorse. Determined to see justice served, she urged officers to pursue the case rigorously.

Injured and requiring medical attention, Lenza was later treated for facial injuries. Meanwhile, authorities began gathering evidence, consulting witness testimonies, and scrutinising CCTV footage to bolster their case against the two Uzbek nationals.

The looming legal consequences are severe. Abdesshov could face charges under Section 278 of the Criminal Law for sexual assault, carrying a potential penalty of up to 10 years’ imprisonment or a fine of up to 200,000 baht (approximately £4,500), or both. Lbahan might face charges under Section 295 for physical assault, which could lead to up to two years’ imprisonment, a fine of up to 40,000 baht (approximately £900), or both.

As the investigation progresses, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictability that can mar the lively atmosphere of Pattaya’s famous nightlife. Local authorities continue to urge caution, stressing the importance of safety amidst such incidents.

Can't help but wonder if maybe she was the Uzbek's girlfriend last night.

Need more details.  Most guys don't grope random women on the street.

I personally could not understand anything from this story. And as such this particular story sucks. There should be at least some motives for people acting a certain way. There are not any motives explained in this story.

Exactly. It looks like this Uzbek is a maniac attacking random girls and random Italians on the street. While this is still a possibility, there are, most probably, some other details missing. Why to publish this kind of BS stories at all?

Yeah, or maybe you are totally wrong, so why do you post something totally taken out of the blue?

There have been several stories now where people of certain nationalities / from certain regions in the world seem to engage in group attacks. It's very dangerous to get into an altercation with these people as they hang around in packs and get their friends to jump in.

While It might be noble to protect the integrity of your girlfriend, it might be best just to get the hell out of there.

Do you actually have a girl friend in Pattaya...or is she on hire:)?

Technically, no one has a "real girlfriend" in Pattaya.

Maybe you are just a wee bit slow: For normal people, Pattaya is off limits, just as Phuket ii now.

Very common in the Pattaya hot spots unfortunately, with some nationalities being worse than others!

I'm open to that possibility.  Just wishing the OP had more details.  Was she his actual girlfriend, or was she a ST rental?

How many "random" women hang out in the Pattaya hotspots?  Most of the Thai women I know wouldn't be caught dead there.

Would it make any difference - or do you condone groping in that instance?

In fairness, the vast majority of Thai women I know, I met through work at a multi-national company.  Where we paid a salary much higher than the prevailing wage, so we could retain the best of them.   Not in the bars.
