British tourists eyeing up Bali are being warned of potential dangers as violent riots sweep Indonesia, leaving seven dead and hundreds injured. Tensions have gripped the country in its worst unrest in years.

British tourists planning to bask under Bali’s sun are now facing stark warnings as fears mount over deadly riots across Indonesia. The Foreign Office has ramped up travel advice, highlighting increasing risks of civil disorder and potential terror threats as protests turn violent from Jakarta to other major cities.

Violence sparked as public fury over new parliamentary perks ignited mass protests. Buildings were torched in the chaos as mobs clashed with security forces. A shocking human toll has emerged: three deaths in Makassar, a driver killed in Jakarta, a student lost in Yogyakarta, and an elderly man tragically succumbing to tear gas in Solo. Over 469 people have reported injuries, and many have been hospitalised as the violence spirals.

President Prabowo Subianto, struck by the calamity, has ordered drastic measures, deploying military forces across critical regions. Warning of escalating threats, he describes troubling signs resembling treason and terrorism. Government attempts to pacify dissent, such as revising MP allowances, have been met with scepticism by protest leaders who demand sweeping reforms.

Chaotic scenes unfold as demonstrators launch Molotov cocktails and firecrackers at police lines in various cities, prompting soldiers to take positions reminiscent of military rule’s darkest days. Snipers cover strategic points, checkpoints scatter Jakarta, and schools shutter amidst fears of escalating violence.

The international community is watching closely, with the United Nations calling for investigations into alleged police overreach. Meanwhile, investor apprehension has hit Indonesia's stock market as President Subianto confronts his first significant political test.

The UK Foreign Office advises Brits to steer clear of protests, underlining the likelihood of terror attacks targeting foreigners in frequented areas. The EXPRESS UK reported that warnings have increased around national holidays and festive periods, when risks are higher.

Beyond political turmoil, Bali presents its own threats that often elude tourists. Reports of serious incidents like sexual assaults, drink spiking, methanol poisoning, and aggressive thefts are causing alarm. Visitors are urged to exercise caution, particularly around food and drink origins, and to purchase alcohol only from verified outlets to avoid life-threatening risks.

Travellers should remain vigilant, carrying only essentials and keeping valuables secure. Using registered transport is advised for added safety. The Foreign Office reinforces the need for comprehensive travel insurance, stating that no trip comes without risk.

Really ?

It seems more going on than more money or perks for some politicians.

A good time not to travel to Indonesia.

So, violence filled vacations for the Brits or go home and risk immediate arrest if you've EVER posted something bad about faggots. God Save The Queen seems to have an altered meaning in the UK these days. :cheesy:
