Podiatrist?

Featured Replies

Hi all. My wife was in the US for a few months and during the time, she had an ingrown nail problem. She saw a podiatrist whom proved to be very poor at his job (and mean too!), however it was in the middle of an ingrown toenail surgery that she discovered this. The next week, my wife saw another podiatrist because she was told by the first podiatrist that in her case, the ingrown toenail was hereditary and most likely the other foot would have the same problem. Since she didn't like the first one, and he wasn't very professional, she saw another doctor. He was very professionaly and flawlessly performed the ingrown toenail removal surgery. Now,...within 7 days of the second nail being removed, it's healed. No swelling, no pain. Perfect. The first toenail (now "fixed" 5 weeks ago) though is in much pain, semi-swollen. Before my wife came back to BKK (yesterday) she saw the good podiatrist to check the first toe (done by the bad doctor. keeping up?) and he said it looked ok, and took some x-rays to double-check there was no bone loss (why would there be bone loss?). He prescribed Keflex (antibiotic) and iburprofen to help. Very little improvement. Now we're in the LOS and I can't find a doctor for her to see that knows anything about feet. I just hate going to Bumrungrad and seeing a doctor whom seems half "in the know" and prescribes a bag full of pills that have little to no effect. Anyone know of a podiatrist in Bangkok? Or even a General doctor whom knows about foot conditions like this?

Thanks a million, -Matt

According to Trink there are no podiartrists in Thailand. (and hes been here 35 ++ years)

This seems unbelievable but I (have been here around 13-14years) and have never seen one.

I don't accept that an ingrown toenail would be hereditary (but then I am not a podiatrist)

I have had occasion to visit a podiatrist back home a few times and believe that ingrown toenails are often a result of how one cuts the nails.

Particularly in respect of the great (big) toes the nail should be cut straight and not rounded as many Thails are seen to do.

You would think that there would be a real big demand for podiatrists here as when you look around many Thails have shocking looking feet. (and no I don't have a foot fetish)

Maybe the hours of paddling about in the paddy fields.

You might try Thep Tarin Hospital (spelling?) on Rama 4 Road in Bangkok. Have had friends go there with foot problems and they rave about it. One had some foot inserts made. Doctor spoke excellent English and usually had a Saturday morning clinic for appts.

Mr Taksin's mom went there for knee replacement surgery recently (probably not done by a podiatrist though).

As ar as I know there are no registered Podiatrist in Bangkok.

You can contact the 'foot care centre' 022921200 or [email protected] , covers most foot problems and custom foot supports.
