Duchess of York Loses Patronages Amid Epstein Email Scandal

In a stunning fallout, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, has been dropped by seven charities after a 2011 email surfaced in which she referred to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein as a "supreme friend." The charities, including Julia’s House and the Teenage Cancer Trust, have deemed her continued role as a patron or ambassador "inappropriate." This revelation contradicts her public stance from the same year, where she labelled her involvement with Epstein as a "gigantic error of judgement."

The Mail on Sunday and The Sun newspapers revealed an email that seemed to apologise to Epstein, despite her public denunciation of him. The spokesperson clarified that Ferguson wrote the email to address a defamation threat from Epstein, emphasising her deep regret over the absence of any known association with him. The scandal dates back years, and Prince Andrew, her ex-husband, has also faced scrutiny over his connections with Epstein, which led to his resignation from royal duties.

Since becoming involved with these charities, Ferguson had been an essential figure in their initiative. Her role as a patron for Prevent Breast Cancer began after she battled breast cancer, and she has maintained a long-standing patronage with the Teenage Cancer Trust. This development has put her public philanthropic profile into jeopardy.

The impact is significant, stripping Ferguson of her ambassador status at the British Heart Foundation among others. Amid mounting calls for transparency about Epstein's high-profile connections, charities are distancing themselves rapidly. This email revelation appears to have reached a critical point in Ferguson's association with Epstein, exacerbating the problems her former husband, the Duke of York, is facing.

Looking ahead, Ferguson may face ongoing challenges in retaining public roles following the scandal. Given the scrutiny surrounding other high-profile figures, questions remain about the true timeline of her connections with Epstein. The reaction from charities underscores the rapid erosion of her public persona, previously buoyed by her philanthropic work.

Key Takeaways

  • Sarah Ferguson dropped by seven charities due to Epstein links.
  • The 2011 email contradicts her previous public stance.
  • Charities decisively cut ties amid rising Epstein scrutiny.

Fergie has always been a wrong 'un. Too many scandals to mention.

Just like that awful pathological liar Markle woman.

At least William married a fantastic woman. Strip Andrew and Harry of their titles and the Monarchy will be in good hands again within the next few years.

Fergie was probably thankful to Epstein for providing him with someone other than her to supply him with "wifely comfort".... who cares the age. 🙂 Joking! sort of...

@jonnyF...

Spot on.

She has become a hideous caricature of the spritely little red-headed tart she once was.

Horrid woman. Unfortunately,  Willy likes his cousins and won't remove their mother's titles. Also, she is used to keep Andy out of trouble. Personally,  I think that if the monarchy does not remove Andrew, and Harry and their families from the title list, the institution is doomed and won't last past Charlie's reign for too long.

You got that half right.

Not a "lady", but certainly a "bag", and an old one at that.

Indeed, although to be fair she wasn't up to much when she was younger either.

What is it with Andrew and Harry marrying mingers? At least that awful Markle woman looked OK until about 5 years ago, well she did when she had half an inch of make up on anyway.  Obviously she's fallen off the cliff since.

Catherine on the other hand looks like a Supermodel or a Hollywood actress.

Thank goodness William was born first.
