Denmark's Defence Shaken by Drone Intrusions Across Jutland

A night of drone activity over Jutland, western Denmark, has revealed vulnerabilities in the nation’s defences without causing physical harm. Airports at Aalborg and Billund were forced to close, with drones also spotted at Esbjerg, Sonderborg, and Skrydstrup, the latter two serving as military bases.

This incident has left the Danish authorities scrambling for answers, raising concerns over their critical infrastructure's security.

In response, Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen labelled the incident a "hybrid attack," citing the systematic targeting of multiple locations. The Danish government speculates the involvement of a "professional actor" but has not made any specific accusations. Similar instances have affected other Nato members like Norway, Estonia, and Poland, where drones have violated airspace, prompting heightened military actions.

The incident has intensified discussions about Denmark's defensive capabilities, with expert Kjeld Jensen acknowledging the country's vulnerabilities. Military chiefs have stated they are prepared to bring drones down over military areas, but practical challenges remain. Denmark is considering whether to invoke Nato's Article 4, which calls for consultation among members when a state's security is threatened.

Looking ahead, Denmark plans to join Nato allies in discussions about creating a "drone wall" for better protection, although the focus remains on armed threats akin to those seen in Poland. This situation highlights the urgent need for Denmark to enhance its air defences. The Danish authorities continue to assess the situation as they adapt to this new security reality, working to prevent future breaches.

Key Takeaways

  • Denmark's defences exposed by drone sightings over key locations.
  • Government considers invoking Nato's Article 4 after disruptions.
  • Plans for improved air defence and international cooperation underway.

There is a Russian warship parked 12 miles off the coast for the last week that has absolutely nothing to do with it 🤔

Poties pushing in my view I think he’s getting a bit desperate with the oil shortage at home.no oil sales= no money for his criminal war.he’s trying to get nato to fold.

Just shoot them down if they are military not commercial flights.

Wait until there are drones or balloons over Alaska, then the missiles will fly.

What Defense ?  Should be shot from the sky within minutes but, as the NATO Spkeperson said this week...''It's too expensive to go shooting down these Drones''.    WTF ?

They are steel in deep sleep till they suddenly wake and see their country is already been occupied. Just like WWII.

Didn't a Chinese balloon fly over the USA on Biden's watch. Don't recall any missiles flying then.

It's called salami tactics. Just push a little by little and see what happens. Then push a little bit more. Nothing too provocative.....just keep pushing.
