Single Entry Tourist Visa

Featured Replies

Correct me if I am wrong, but with a single entry tourist visa I can stay in Thailand, (including borderruns) for about 5 months : 60 days + extension 30 days + 2 borderruns = 60 days, makes about 5 months ? If I would do a 3rd borderrun I would have to stay out of Thailand for a minimum period of 90 days after those last 30 days ?

No, after your 2 months + extension, you could do three consequitive border runs, since only these are counted towards the 90 days limit.

Days spend on tourist visa, don't count toward the limit.

I recall recently reading a report here that they encountered an officer who counted each 30 day extension on a tourist visa as a 30 day entry stamp, so if this is really the case, you would indeed only have one 30 day stamp allowed in your scenario. Was that officer an oddball or is that the new policy?

I noticed someone saying they saw or heard that but I missed the post if someone actually did say it in a post. Only visa exempt entry or overstay should be counted in my understanding. If extensions of stay were counted there would be a lot of us in violation (everyone on one year extension of stay).

Interesting, but I doubt that immigration views people getting annual extensions on O visas the same way as people staying very long times on tourist visas mixed with creative visa runs.

So, (I am kind of retarded) : one single entry tourist visa is good for (about) 6 months stay in Thailand, before I need to head off for a new single entry tourist visa ?

The tourist visa will only cover 90 days - but you could follow that with 3x30 visa exempt entry.
