A Chinese tourist was injured in Pattaya after being struck with a bottle by a Thai woman in the early hours of 28 September 2025. The incident occurred at 01:05 on Chaloem Phrakiat 25 in South Pattaya, prompting a rapid response from rescue volunteers and Pattaya City Police. The victim, identified as 29-year-old Ms. Cui Jai, suffered a bleeding head wound and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police detained the suspect, a 53-year-old woman identified only as Ms. Sakuna, at the scene. She admitted to striking the tourist, claiming she was provoked after hearing insults allegedly directed at Thai bar and sex workers. According to her account, the confrontation escalated when the victim appeared to attempt a kick as she exited a vehicle, sparking a heated altercation.

A key witness, 53-year-old Mr. Theerayut, confirmed that the women were initially separated by bystanders during their argument. However, he stated that as the tourist walked away, the suspect retrieved a bottle from a bag and struck her on the head twice. He added that timely intervention by others prevented more serious injury and noted that the suspect was often seen drunk and acting unpredictably.

Police officers brought the situation under control and took the suspect into custody. She is now under investigation and further legal proceedings are expected once statements and medical reports are finalised. The Pattaya City Police have yet to confirm potential charges but indicated that they are treating the matter as a serious assault.

I always feel a bit sorry for the old ladies still working the bars.

Another tale for the tourist to tell as Thailand seeks to overturn its poor reputation for being a dangerous place to visit.

Let me guess; next we will hear of clampdowns on bars and sex workers to appease the Chinese tourists (who stay only a few days anyway, just spending on hotel and picture-plates labelled 'I went to an island in Thailand')... 🤔

There goes the good name of Pattaya.
