The Metropolitan Police are actively investigating claims that Prince Andrew sought personal details about his accuser, Virginia Giuffre, through his police protection. Reports suggest Andrew tried to obtain her information before a revealing photo of their meeting surfaced in 2011. The prince, who denies all allegations, has not commented, while Buckingham Palace has been contacted.

 

Virginia Giuffre alleged she was among those sexually exploited by Jeffrey Epstein and claimed she was forced to have sex with Andrew, including at Ghislaine Maxwell’s London residence when she was 17.

 

Maxwell is serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking linked to Epstein. Reports indicate Andrew provided Giuffre's date of birth and social security number to his protection officer.

 

Energy Secretary Ed Miliband labelled the reports "deeply concerning," stressing that using protection officers in this way is inappropriate. Recently, Andrew renounced the use of his titles and Order of the Garter membership. This follows his stepping down as a "working royal" and forfeiting the use of his HRH title.

I gather the MSM are choosing to ignore the explanation given in the book as to why  the payment to Guiffre of £12m was made. The royal family were concerned that the ongoing publicity of the allegations against Andrew were causing HM the Queen great distress at a time when she was increasingly unwell, and as the Jubilee celebrations neared. The payment was made on the understanding that Guiffre woul cease her accusations at such a difficult time. Not at all the sort of lurid revelation the MSM were hoping for.
