A metal grinding incident at a private residence in Ban Thanang, Thoen District, Lampang Province, on 18 November 2025 at around 09:30, triggered a powerful explosion. The blast injured a man in his 60s and caused extensive damage to the property, including shattered windows, collapsed roofing and scattered furniture. Emergency services quickly transported the injured man to a nearby hospital.

The explosion occurred while a worker was using a metal grinder inside the house. Preliminary reports suggest that sparks from the grinding may have struck a backup battery system and a solar panel unit. Officials have confirmed that the exact cause of the blast remains under investigation.

Authorities from Thoen Police Station, alongside Lampang Municipal officials and the local fire prevention and disaster response team, arrived at the scene to assess the damage. The incident caused significant concern among nearby residents, who witnessed debris and furniture scattered across the property.

Local officials emphasized the need for careful handling of electrical and backup power systems in residential settings. They warned that sparks from grinding or welding can pose serious hazards when flammable or high-energy devices are nearby.
