A man was found dead in a road collision late on 25 November, after earlier approaching police to report that a friend had been killed in a traffic collision. The incident occurred at 23.15 on the Asia Highway northbound, near kilometre marker 679 in Na Saeng, Ko Kha District, Lampang Province. Police and rescue teams discovered the body of a Thai male, believed to be around 20 years old, in a condition described as having suffered extremely violent damage, with his head crushed, brain matter and body parts and tissue scattered across the road, indicating a high-speed impact.

The location was unlit, with no witnesses or CCTV footage, complicating immediate investigation efforts. The victim was wearing a black T-shirt and long black trousers and had tattoos on his neck and left arm, but his identity was unknown at he carried no ID. Rescue personnel from Ko Kha collected all body fragments for forensic examination while officers began work to identify the deceased and trace his relatives.

Prior to the discovery of the body, police learned that the same man had approached a highway police checkpoint earlier that night. At approximately 22.00, Lieutenant Jaroonroj Situe of Highway Police Division 5 in Lampang stated that the man had walked into the Ko Kha highway police post claiming that his friend had been killed in a collision at “Lan Dok Bua Tong.” Officers noted that this location is in Mae Mo District, not Ko Kha, and reported that the man spoke incoherently and claimed someone had brought him there before walking away toward Na Kaeo village. Police found no evidence of this reported incident.

The fact that the man later died in a similar manner to the incident he described raised concerns among investigators about the circumstances leading him onto the highway. Police are examining whether he stepped onto the road intentionally, accidentally, or as a result of confusion or distress. Officers are also investigating whether a vehicle may have struck him deliberately or it was unintentional, before fleeing the scene.

Komchadluek reported that authorities from Ko Kha Police Station and the highway police are now working to confirm the man’s identity, including through his tattoos and any available evidence. They are also attempting to locate the vehicle involved and determine the sequence of events in the hour between his police visit and his death. Officers continue their inquiries and seek information from the public.

Very strange sequence of events.

The police reported that he was "Speaking incoherently..." at the initial encounter.

Sounds like he was either drunk, stoned, or dealing with mental health issues.

They should have detained him there and then as a danger to himself and others.

I expect that what arrived at the police checkpoint and reported the accident was the ghost of the man who had already died in the accident.
