U.S. immigration authorities have detained Bruna Caroline Ferreira, connected to the family of White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt. A source close to the case confirmed Ferreira’s arrest as ICE aims to adhere strictly to immigration laws. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) labelled Ferreira a "criminal illegal alien" due to her overstayed visa, sparking significant public attention.

Ferreira, a Brazilian national, arrived in the U.S. on a B2 visa, meant to expire in 1999. Reports indicate she has lived in the U.S. since childhood, during which time she maintained close ties with her son residing with his father, Michael Leavitt. Authorities have now placed Ferreira in the South Louisiana ICE Processing Center as she faces deportation proceedings, marking the enforcement policies under the current U.S. administration.

Attorney Todd Pomerleau contests the criminal allegations, insisting Ferreira has led a lawful life. He highlights her previous DACA status and ongoing attempts to secure a green card. Arrested in Massachusetts under disputed circumstances, Pomerleau criticises the lack of a warrant and questions the motives behind her arrest, noting the struggle to manage her case far from home.

As legal proceedings advance, Pomerleau dismisses any potential impact of Ferreira’s link to Karoline Leavitt, attributing the situation to mere coincidence. An online campaign, initiated by Ferreira’s purported sister, seeks support by promoting her character as community-orientated and selfless, providing a personal angle to the unfolding legal case, reported ABC News.

Key Takeaways:

  • Bruna Caroline Ferreira, linked to Karoline Leavitt, is detained for immigration violations.
  • Discrepancies exist between DHS claims and her attorney's defence regarding her legal status.
  • The case continues amid broad interest, with implications for U.S. immigration policy scrutiny.

Family member? Her nephew's mother.

A White House source familiar with the situation said: “This individual is the mother of Karoline’s nephew and they have not spoken in many years. The child has lived full time in New Hampshire with his father since he was born. He has never resided with his mother.”

Separately, a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson confirmed that “ICE arrested Bruna Caroline Ferreria [sic], a criminal illegal alien from Brazil. She has a previous arrest for battery. She entered the US on a B2 tourist visa that required her to depart the US by 6 June 1999. She is currently at the South Louisiana ICE Processing Center and is in removal proceedings.”

They added: “Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, all individuals unlawfully present in the United States are subject to deportation.”

Tricia McLaughlin, the Department of Homeland Security spokesperson, said in a statement to WBUR that Ferreira had a “previous arrest for battery”.

Neither the record of Ferreira’s arrest record or how any charges were resolved were immediately available.

At a minimum, Ferreira’s detention and likely deportation has brought home the close or casual connections many Americans have to the administration’s immigration crackdown.

Well the kids dad will use it as a get rid of the pest woman im sure.but then again perhaps not he may try to help his son’s mother…..be interesting to see how this one plays out.hope he does the right thing.

I wonder if Karoline Leavitt, Trump's sycophant press secretary, will be able to get her relative released? Or will she just be considered collateral damage in the brutal ICE sweep of suspected illegal but often completely legal immigrants and refugees.  The actual terrorist in this story is Trump.

She will probably be glad to see the back of her. A woman who had a relationship with her brother and has been fighting for custody of their child.

I'd imagine the family will be glad to see her deported. 2 birds, one stone. They might have even tipped off ICE.

Why the weird circumlocution "her nephew's mother"?

Isn't it just her sister-in-law?

Divorced but was married to her brother?

Am I not understanding something?

I don't get it.

Now we have journalists, I preferred it when we had reporters.

Because that is what she is.

Not married. So not a sister in law.

Some woman her brother had a relationship with. The brother takes care of the child.

It's just the lefties trying to make it sound like Leavitt had her over for lunch every Sunday.

"Family member" 😃

She is her brother's ex.

Simply put, I don't get the indirect "nephew's mother" and the emphasis on the son.

I think they Trump/Leavitt haters are trying to make it sound more than it is.

Nephew's mother or Family member sounds better than "some girl her brother slept with a decade ago".

Used to be not so long ago just applying for a 'change of status' on your B2 via marriage would get you safe and sound in the USA (as long as you didn't leave the country and try to re-enter) 9 times out of 10. Now no-one in the 'grey zone' is safe the way it's going there.

An off topic deflection post about Melania Trump has been removed as this topic is about:

Its refreshing to see ICE carrying out their duties without favour, Another positive, No doubt the leftists won't agree, nothing can make them happy

It has already been established that it is not a relative ,  and now  President Trump is a "terrorist" too,   Do you leftists ever read the posts you reply to ?  you certainly do not read the rubbish you write yourselves

Strange how this is treated as a big deal yet nobody is talking about Kevin Bacon who is connected to every person in the US to some degree.

Maybe Ms Leavitt had her busted
