Tourists visiting Doi Inthanon on Thursday were mesmerized by a stunning hoar frost display as temperatures dropped to 2°C, the lowest recorded this year. This marks the fourth consecutive day that the mountaintop has seen frost. Visitors enjoyed the spectacle amidst a sea of mist and clear, sunny skies.

The park reported temperature readings from several locations early Thursday. The mountaintop registered 2°C, with the coldest point dropping to -2.3°C. Meanwhile, the Kew Mae Parn Natural Trail saw temperatures at 8°C, and the park office recorded 11°C, signaling the onset of winter in the park.

Tourists gathered around the viewpoint and car park, where frosty layers graced the grasses. With the absence of rain clouds, the sunlight added to the picturesque landscape, drawing visitors to the Kew Mae Parn Natural Trail for the morning's first light.

Park officials advised caution due to the winding and potentially slippery roads covered with frost. Visitors were also encouraged to wear warm clothing to cope with the chilly temperatures on the mountaintop.

As winter firmly takes hold, the park expects continued cold conditions, continuing to attract tourists eager to experience the frosty scenery. The early onset of low temperatures heralds a potentially long winter season for Doi Inthanon, reported The Nation.

Key Takeaways

  • Doi Inthanon registered the lowest temperature of 2°C this year.
  • Tourists witnessed hoar frost for the fourth straight day.
  • Safety measures are advised for tourists due to slippery roads.

I've not been there, but know it can get kinda cold sometimes in general.

Any cool birds in particular worth looking out for?

I recommend you use this book, it has information on the locality of the different species.
