A 37-year-old woman in Chai Nat Province was found dead, following a live stream in which she expressed frustration over a delayed reward from the Election Commission (EC) for reporting electoral fraud. The deceased, identified as Kamonpan Suwanpitak, known as “Mai,” had publicly shared her grievances on Facebook regarding a tip she submitted four years ago about misconduct in the 5th constituency of Nakhon Sawan Province. While the candidate she reported was subsequently found guilty and disqualified from elections, Kamonpan said she never received the reward she had expected to help establish her livelihood.

During the live stream, Kamonpan expressed her anger and resentment towards the EC, saying, “You cheated me. I dedicate my life to you.” She then proceeded to prepare for suicide by tying a large nylon rope to a tree behind her house and climbing a chair. Despite friends and viewers attempting to intervene through messages and phone calls, she reportedly continued her actions and eventually hung herself, knocking over the phone she had been streaming on.

Emergency responders from Sapphaya Police Station and Ruamkatanyu Foundation were alerted and arrived at the scene, confirming her death. Relatives reportedly did not contest the cause of death and the body was released for funeral rites. The incident has sparked public concern over the delay in payout for whistleblowers and highlights the emotional impact on those awaiting promised rewards.

Matichon reported that authorities have not yet issued a statement regarding the delay in Kamonpan’s reward or the circumstances leading to her death, though public attention is expected to focus on whether the EC of Nakhon Sawan will respond.
