Thai authorities have received 23 Chinese nationals suspected of running online scams, along with over 600 mobile phones, in a major cross-border law enforcement operation. The suspects fled from “KK Park,” a notorious scammer base in Myawaddy, Myanmar, after heavy military action in the area. The handover took place in Sangkhla Buri district, Kanchanaburi province on 28 November 2025.

The operation was coordinated by the Karen National Union (KNU), 6th Brigade, in collaboration with Thai authorities. Police Superintendent Santi Pitaksakul of Sangkhla Buri Police Station, along with officers from the Surasee Task Force, Border Patrol Police Unit 134, immigration, and local administration, received the suspects at the 6 Pan Rai border checkpoint.

Preliminary checks identified the group as 3 Kokang Chinese and 20 mainland Chinese nationals. All had escaped KK Park, a Chinese special economic zone in Myawaddy serving as a hub for large-scale scam operations, which was under intense military crackdown. The confiscated mobile phones are believed to have been used in online criminal activities.

SiamRath reported that The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) is currently screening and investigating the individuals in detail at Sangkhla Buri Police Station. Thai authorities emphasised that the operation marks a significant step in cross-border cooperation with the KNU to combat transnational criminal networks using border areas as operational bases.
