A South Korean man allegedly poured hot water over his Thai girlfriend in an attempt to disfigure her and prevent her from dating others. The incident was revealed when the Thai victim sought interpreting help through a Facebook group after being assaulted, aiming to pursue legal action against her boyfriend.

A Thai interpreter assisted her with communication at a local police station and reached out to a legal agency to support her case. The victim disclosed to a friend that she was asleep when the hot water was poured onto her face. Afterward, the man apologised and took her to the hospital, admitting his actions were driven by jealousy.

Despite his pleas for forgiveness, the woman resolved to end the relationship. Communication will now only occur through legal channels. Images shared online show the victim's face wrapped in gauze, and she remains hospitalized. The interpreter has vowed to support her until the legal proceedings conclude.

Online debate erupted following the incident, with some questioning her presence in South Korea. However, the interpreter clarified that she entered legally with a K-ETA. Warnings were issued about potential scams exploiting the victim's situation, emphasizing that no fundraising efforts are in place, reported The Thaiger.

Key Takeaways

  • Thai woman in South Korea attacked by jealous boyfriend seeking to control her.
  • Victim is pursuing legal action with help from an interpreter.

Very sad I hope she gets the help she needs.

I hope her deranged ex boyfriend receives a long prison term for his cowardly actions

I will forgive you after you bring me that HOT pot of water and then you lay on your back for the forgiveness treatment.

Utterly disgusting behaviour by the Korean probably resulting in permanent disfigurement for the Thai woman. It will be interesting to see the outcome of this case.

What a despicable pathetic man. Because of his insecurity, and jealously, of her beauty being attractive to other men he took it upon himself to damage her for life. I certainly hope the young woman gets the best available treatment and psychological assistance to help her try and get over this trauma and have a long and happy life.

As for him, I hope he suffers more than she has for eternity!

could have been worse..  if it was another inmature Thai mama's boy ..   definitley would have involved knives or guns

People like this that take such inhumane actions should be severely punished. Boiling water thrown on women, acid attacks on women, disfiguring people for life in most cases, are all too common across Asia. However, disrespect for other humans in the current world increases by the day.

Bang him up, the P.O.S.

Hope the lady recovers from this nasty crime.

Is she there legally?

A poor comparison, I don't think such remarks are helpful or warranted, lady could be scarred for life.

What a thing to say, have you no compassion at all?  Did you read the story?

Very sad. A good reminder to keep away from those harsh and ruthless japanese and koreans (amongst others from the west)  who treat women very badly.

“Not fair to blame entire countries. Bad behaviour comes from individuals, not whole cultures.”

No, I was lazy to read the whole story hence the question. As for being  outraged by my question, maybe you are not aware that Korean police is countless times more xenophobic than Thai police. Foreigner simply has no chance against a Korean.

A Thai woman in South Korea, Namfon, received support from the Royal Thai Embassy after her husband allegedly poured boiling water on her, resulting in severe injuries. The embassy has pledged to assist in her legal pursuits, including a civil lawsuit for compensation, with ongoing coordination with South Korean authorities to ensure her protection.

Namfon's ordeal began on December 3rd when she reached out to the Thailand community in South Korea after the attack. According to Namfon, her husband's motive was to disfigure her and prevent her from interacting with other men. Initially, the husband took her to hospital and sought forgiveness, promising to cover medical expenses if they reconciled. Namfon rejected his advances and sought help to pursue legal action instead.

Nut, a Thai interpreter, has played a key role in assisting Namfon by bridging communication with South Korean police and preparing necessary legal documents. Thai officials, including Ambassador Thani Sangrat, visited Namfon in the hospital and promised continued legal support. Namfon sustained scalding injuries on 40% of her body, highlighting the severity of the attack.

The accused husband is currently in police custody, having been arrested following reports in South Korean media. He claims the incident was accidental, asserting that he tripped and the boiling water spilled unintentionally. Despite his claims, Namfon has moved forward with divorce proceedings and is staying at a shelter while recovering.

Nut reported that Namfon's condition, both physically and mentally, is improving. The Thai community in South Korea, including social media influencers, has shown support, providing financial assistance and job opportunities to help Namfon rebuild her life. Some local officials have also addressed her visa concerns, facilitating a smoother process.

The fundraising efforts led by Nut raised 5.8 million won for Namfon's medical costs, while Pimphaka Suphap, a Thai resident in South Korea, covered the remaining expenses. Namfon's medical bills amounted to approximately 13 million won, or nearly 270,000 baht, reported The Thaiger.

Key Takeaways

  • The Thai Embassy is actively supporting Namfon in her legal and recovery process.
  • The accused husband is under custody, denying intentional harm.
  • The Thai community in South Korea is aiding Namfon with finances and job prospects.
