Israel has confirmed the identity of the hostage remains received from Hamas as Thai national Sudthisak Rinthalak. The Israeli Prime Minister's Office announced the identification on Thursday, emphasizing that plans are underway to repatriate Sudthisak's body to Thailand in coordination with the Thai Embassy in Israel.

Sudthisak was among those kidnapped during the October 7, 2023, attack on southern Israel by Hamas militants. Originally from Nong Khai province, the 43-year-old worked on plantations at the Beeri kibbutz. He was killed during the assault, and his remains were transported to Gaza, only confirmed deceased by Israeli authorities in May 2024. This event marks a continuing effort to resolve the hostage situation as part of a broader ceasefire agreement.

The resolution was part of a deal brokered under a ceasefire plan spearheaded by then-US President Donald Trump. Hamas agreed to return all hostages, living and deceased, to Israel. Sudthisak was identified as one of the last to be confirmed, alongside Israeli Ran Gvili, whose remains are yet to be returned from Gaza.

The fate of the hostages has been a significant concern, as 31 Thai nationals were captured in the 2023 attack, the largest group of foreign hostages. While 23 of them were released in early 2024 and an additional five freed in January 2025, three, including Sudthisak, were confirmed dead. Additionally, 46 Thais were killed in the initial attack, highlighting the severe impact of the incident on the Thai community.

Looking forward, Israeli and Thai officials are working closely to expedite the return of Sudthisak to his family in Thailand. The tragic situation emphasizes the persistent complexities in the region, with implications for international diplomacy and humanitarian efforts, reported Bangkok Post.

Key Takeaways

  • Israel confirms the remains of Thai national Sudthisak Rinthalak received from Hamas.
  • The incident was part of a larger ceasefire plan involving multiple hostage negotiations.
  • Coordination continues to return Sudthisak's remains to Thailand.

The usual stoney silence from the mob on any awkward article that doesn't fit the lefty narrative so that it gets buried asap.

IDF representatives, together with the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs, informed the family of Sudthisak Rinthalak that their loved one has been brought back for burial.
According to the information and intelligence available to the IDF:
• Sudthisak Rinthalak, 42, a Thai citizen, was murdered during the Oct. 7 Massacre and his body was abducted into Gaza and held by the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization.
He worked in agriculture and was abducted from the orchards of Kibbutz Be’eri. His death was officially determined on May 16th, 2024, and he leaves behind his parents and a brother.
The IDF expresses deep condolences to his family and continues to make every effort to return the remaining deceased hostage, in accordance with the ceasefire.
Hamas is required to fulfill its part of the agreement and make the necessary efforts to return the remaining hostage to his family and to a dignified burial.

No, what Hamas did was evil and one's heart goes out to all of those who have suffered at their hands. it must be especially agonising waiting years not knowing what has happened to your loved ones.

But that doesn't excuse Israel's barbarity over the last 2 years.

A plague on both their houses.

Barbarity? The Gazans are lucky the Israelis showed restraint and did not operate using the  methods that the Gazans use, or that the Arabs in Libya, Syria, Iraq et al  use on each other. The barbarians are in Gaza and at the gate of western civilization seeking to dominate and destroy.

No restraint from the Israelis- mass killings of civilians by missiles, destruction of water plants, destruction of arable land, hospitals, almost every building standing in Gaza, food, water and medical supplies cut off for months, even now, there are stringent restrictions on so many items.

It took a year just to import tents to Gaza from the UK, ffs.

No, the Israelis have acted beyond the pale the last two years. No wonder there is so much revulsion in the West at their actions.

Yes,.................change the subject to Israel .

Why not just focus of the topic subject ?

evil just pure evil

if I was a Palistinian I would want to move to Israel - there are 1.5 m muslims living in Israel, Israel supported gaza with utilities like electric and water, that all ended when these hamas animals decided it was a good idea to attack defensless civlians in the most brutal way, Israel has tried to avoid civiliion casulties but when hamas use hospitals and the like for cover. solution

take gaza - give the ordernary people a chance, I have no doubt that Israel would take care of the people of gaza -
