Pheu Thai Asks Court to Rule on Govt ‘Ethical Breaches’

The Pheu Thai Party is set to petition the Constitutional Court, accusing ministers in the Anutin-led government of ethical breaches. This action could pave the way for a formal no-confidence debate as they seek to challenge the government's integrity. The accusations include questionable budget practices and mismanagement of the Southeast Asian Games, with Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul among those potentially under scrutiny.

In the run-up to this decision, Pheu Thai MP Sutin Klungsaeng revealed the party is closely watching the progress of the constitutional amendment bill during its second reading. Depending on the outcome, they will decide the timing of the no-confidence motion. The second reading's results are critical, as they will determine whether the bill is likely to pass, guiding the party's next steps.

Before proceeding with a no-confidence motion, the party is determined to seek a court ruling on the alleged ethical violations by individual ministers. Pheu Thai claims that this administration, led by Prime Minister Anutin, is mired in more controversies than any previous government subjected to such scrutiny. Sutin pointed to past issues, contrasting them with what he perceives as the current administration's avoidance tactics.

Pheu Thai leader Julapun Amornvivat affirmed the party’s readiness for a potential House dissolution. He stated that the party is prepared for elections at any time, emphasising that their strategy is undeterred by the threat of parliament being disbanded. The party remains cautious, awaiting the bill's third reading to finalise their course of action, reported the Bangkok Post.

Key Takeaways:

  • Pheu Thai plans to petition court over government ethical breaches.
  • Timing of no-confidence motion hinges on constitutional bill's progress.
  • Party leader asserts readiness for possible House dissolution.

Is there nobody in Thailand except the EC?? everything seems to be asked to the EC or Constitutional Court. The charter and laws are so unclear that nobody dares to take a decision and always need help of a third party.. Time to change the Charter and get clear laws, so that these institutions are not needed anymore..
