In celebration of Thailand's Constitution Day on Wednesday, toll fees will be waived on three major expressway routes. The Expressway Authority of Thailand (Exat) announced that the toll exemption would be in effect from 12:01 a.m. to midnight, impacting 63 toll booths across the Chalerm Maha Nakhon, Si Rat, and Udon Ratthaya expressways. This initiative is part of efforts to ease travel expenses for motorists on this national holiday.

The Constitution Day holiday commemorates Thailand's transition to a constitutional monarchy in 1932. The toll waiver reflects the Ministry of Transport's policy of reducing travel costs, aligning with revised concession agreements between Exat, Bangkok Expressway and Metro Plc, and Northern Bangkok Expressway Co Ltd. These agreements were designed to provide financial relief and facilitate smoother travel for residents during significant national events.

Transportation experts believe the toll exemption will help reduce congestion and travel times on these typically busy routes. The decision is expected to encourage more people to travel, thereby boosting economic activities in nearby areas. Commuters have welcomed the move, appreciating the temporary financial relief and improved accessibility.

Looking ahead, further measures may be implemented to enhance travel convenience during future national holidays. The government is also considering additional transport policies to alleviate costs across broader contexts. These efforts indicate ongoing collaboration between public and private sectors to address transportation challenges and enhance the efficiency of Thailand's road networks, reported Bangkok Post.
