December 19, 2025Dec 19 Popular Post Have a laugh at my expense. Back in October I used a busy agent on Soi Buakhao in Pattaya for my retirement extension. No problems and all went smoothly. I returned on December 10th for a residence certificate, which took a few days to process. I didn't check the document and was in the process of selling a motorbike when the dealer stated that there weren't enough days on the certificate to complete the sale. Lo and behold, the certificate wasn't for 30 days. Here is where I made the mistake and the outcome might not be good: I returned to the agent and pointed out the less than 30 days on the certificate. I'd done my extension with them more than 2 months prior but the agent read the wrong stamp and shortened the validity accordingly. I pointed the mistake out to her and she accused me of renewing the extension after December 11th, so it was my fault! Another employee pointed out the extension date 2 months prior. They agreed to fix the mistake and told me to come back today . I returned this morning and the male employee admonished me in front of other customers for ....returning when they told me to! He was a right Cee u Next Tuesday about it. Told me not to come back until they call me and had me give my number to one of the ladies. How long should I wait before reporting a lost passport and ordering a replacement?

The first sale fell through due to no COR and the second is being delayed until the situation above is sorted out.

December 20, 2025Dec 20 Removed an incomprehensible post and an off-topic post and the replies to them. The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
December 23, 2025Dec 23 Author Update: a week later and still no COR or passport. This could get interesting.

When I sold my pick up we did all the paperwork we were told we needed, the Thai buyer drove 45km to the DV office only to be refused the transfer as they wanted a valid 90 day report! So he had another 135km to his journey back and forth. Thailand, you can never have too many copies of anything.

I suspect that the answer to this question might depend on when your next 90-day report is due in the first instance. Is this something else which you've entrusted to these incompetent clowns (who, judging from what you've said, appear to attach considerably more importance to saving their faces in true Basil Fawlty style than providing a decent service to their clients) to deal with on your behalf?
December 26, 2025Dec 26 Author It was finally sorted out this morning. The antagonistic male employee was notably absent and things went smoothly. Still, I'll probably start doing things for my self from now on.

I signed half a dozen copies of everything when I sold the motorbike back to the dealer this morning. It reminded me of mortgage paperwork.
