Hi, I'm flying Bangkok to Melbourne this evening but my flight has been cancelled. The airline will book me on another flight tomorrow but would mean an overstay of around 19 hours. A short overstay like that was never a problem in the past but now I hear immigration are getting stricter.

I'll be applying for another tourist visa in a few months time.

Probably nothing to worry about but has anyone had any experience lately?

Nothing has changed really.  If you leave from an airport with only 1-day overstay, the fine will be waived.

 

That should not affect a tourist visa application a few months from now.

Happens far more than many would think. 

Will not affect your future plans.
