More than 10 politicians and former MPs in Thailand are under investigation for suspected involvement in scam operations, online gambling networks, and drug trafficking. Justice Minister Pol Lt Gen Rutthaphon Naowarat announced potential imminent arrests following inquiries linked with these illegal activities.

This development comes after criticisms by Rangsiman Rome, a former People's Party list-MP, who accused the government of failing to control scam gangs and illegal gambling networks. Rome argued these activities allowed "grey businesses" to wield political influence. Pol Lt Gen Rutthaphon emphasized that police and various agencies, including cyber police, are actively investigating these matters.

Continuing operation plans, Pol Lt Gen Rutthaphon revealed that around 10 politicians have been identified as having ties to online gambling and scams based on available data. He assured that in-depth investigations would involve coordinated information from cyber police, the Royal Thai Police, and the Department of Special Investigation to keep the public informed of advancements.

Clarifying previous statements, the minister noted they may have been misinterpreted as dismissing the existence of such cases. He explained that during a recent meeting, discussions were centered around policy direction, not specific allegations of politicians linked to drug trafficking. This context, he said, might have led to misunderstandings regarding the scope of the investigation.

Following these developments, Rangsiman Rome expressed concerns through Facebook, criticizing the government’s capacity to prevent criminal networks from infiltrating Thailand’s political sphere. His remarks highlighted ongoing public concern over the influence of illegal activities in politics, reported Bangkok Post.

Were the Cambodians not the scammers a few weeks back??

No matter which country, one is always angered on seeing all the blatant corruption amongst politicians. It is just so disgusting. Be it in Europe, in America or in Asia...and yet these people always get away as they vote the laws and name the judges to cover their a.XX.... in case of a trial. No wonder people start to uprise and violently protest in the streets. At one point even the obedient and moderate of a nation's tax payers, just gets fed up with all of this.
