Overnight Stay Required When Doing a Border Bounce?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I’m currently here on a multiple entry tourist visa from the UK.

I’ve had my initial stay of 60 days upon entry plus another 30 day extension from my local immigration office, so will need to leave and reenter to active my second 60 days permission to stay. My plan is to visit Laos (ideally via Chiang Khong on the Thai side).

My question is does anybody know of a requirement to spend a certain amount of time inside Laos, or is it still fine to return to Thailand that same day?

Many thanks.

Latest reports (from before the new year) were that both Chiang Khong (where you cross by bridge) and Chiang Saen (where you cross by boat) allow out/in if you have a valid visa.

Talk to the passport control officer when you stamp out.. you should be okay.

I didn't know about the Chiang Saen (cross by boat) option. Will keep that in mind for the future.
