A 28-year-old Indian tourist has died after collapsing at the Electric Daisy Carnival Thailand 2026 music festival in Phuket, prompting a police investigation and a forensic examination to determine the cause of death. The incident occurred in the early hours of 18 January 2026 and has drawn attention to safety and medical response at large-scale events.

Police were notified at about 03.15am by the emergency department at Thalang Hospital that a foreign tourist had lost consciousness at the festival and later died. The event was being held in Cherng Talay, Thalang district, Phuket, where thousands of attendees had gathered for the international music festival.

The deceased was identified as Mr Jaisaksham, aged 28, an Indian national. An initial examination of his body found no visible wounds or signs of assault, according to police handling the case.

Investigators established that Mr Saksham had attended the EDC Thailand event before displaying erratic behaviour. Witness accounts indicated that he became agitated and damaged property, including cars parked near Wat Somphan Rang, before emergency responders intervened. Rescue workers transported him to Thalang Hospital, where doctors reported that he was suffering from shock.

Despite medical efforts, he later died at the hospital. The on-duty physician stated that the cause of death could not be determined at that stage. As a result, the body was transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a detailed post-mortem examination by forensic specialists.

Police said the autopsy would be used to establish the precise cause of death and whether any substances or underlying medical conditions were involved. Officers confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing pending the forensic findings.

Authorities have also coordinated with the Indian embassy to notify the victim’s family. Arrangements will be made for relatives to collect the body and proceed with religious rites once the examination is complete. Khoasod reported that the case comes as organisers and officials review procedures surrounding medical emergencies at major festivals.

The erratic behavior prior to collapse suggests something along those lines. Pure speculation based on the reporting.
