Soi Bongkot new smooth asphalt.....

Featured Replies

Drove down to Canterbury Tales yesterday coming off Third Road. I don't know when it happened but its like they laid a smooth carpet over the whole road from 3rd down past Canterbury.......so nice it can only have been very recently.

However what I immediately noticed was that they had covered over literally every drain opening - there were none visible at all on either side of the road........anybody else seen this or know what the plan is?

Usually drains etc are covered when paving. . Maybe they are planning on making new cuts with new covers ?

Well I would certainly hope so.

However if you want an unbelievably smooth mc riding experience go there soon 🤣

I live in East Pattaya, and on several roads leading into Sukhumvit lately, they have done the same. They first laid the complete asphalt all over the draining system. After a few days, they start cutting and laying down new draincovers, and they do it with precision. So when you drive on it afterwards, you can almost not feel any bump there at all. They're doing a great job.

However, when you look at the sides of the road, the road has been raised some centimetres, and that might be a concern to the shops next to it, if the draining system can't take away heavy rain.

That's almost heavenly, riding down a Pattaya road and not feeling loads of bumps, i might head down there

Yep, that's exactly how it is.

The drains were mostly this type as shown in a Streetview image and they have marked the positions at the side of the new tarmac to presumably dig them out at a later date.
