Vietnam Plans Major Upgrade for North-South Railway

Vietnam is considering a significant upgrade to its north-south railway, estimated at VND4.57 trillion (US$174 million). Funding for the upgrade would come from the state budget between 2026 and 2030. Construction is set to start in late 2026, with completion anticipated by 2030. This venture would be the third major renovation of the rail line in ten years, following earlier safety and throughput improvements.
