Thai police have confirmed that an Interpol Red Notice for Vorayuth "Boss" Yoovidhya remains in force, despite no longer being visible to the public.

Speaking at the Royal Thai Police headquarters on 1 September, Pol Lt Gen Trairong Piwpan, deputy inspector-general and police spokesman, said Yoovidhya's details remain in Interpol's database for use by member-country law enforcement agencies.

Notice is not publicly visible

Trairong said Interpol Red Notices operate in two forms. One can be published publicly, while the other is held internally within Interpol's database to protect confidential information and assist in tracing people sought by member countries.

He stressed that Yoovidhya's record remains accessible to police officials in Interpol member states, but not to the general public.

"The information on Mr Vorayuth remains in Interpol's database, but it can be checked only by police officers of member countries and is not available for public access," the police spokesman said.

The fact that a Red Notice cannot be seen by the public does not mean it has been withdrawn, Trairong added. Yoovidhya's status remains recorded for international police and member states to use in efforts to locate him.

No record of return to Thailand

Police also checked with the Immigration Bureau and found no record of Yoovidhya travelling back into Thailand.

Separately, Trairong said disciplinary investigations into members of the original police team involved in preparing the case file and assisting with altering evidence have been completed.

The police inspectorate and Royal Thai Police have sent the matter to the National Anti-Corruption Commission, as well as to commanders in the chain of command, for disciplinary orders.

All officers involved have already received disciplinary penalties according to the severity of their offences, he said. These included reprimands, salary deductions and detention.

If there was really the will to catch this man they could have done it already several years ago. Thai names can be changes as easy as possible and with money there are no borders... The police want to save their face by claiming they have him on the red notice list, but foreigners on the list are sometimes held by the immigration here, but this man can always slip the checkpoints??? A good and competent investigation team could have caught him years ago already, but here money is involved, and better investment is not possible, as long as they pay he is safe

Vorayuth has not been "slipping checkpoints". At the time he left the country with the full knowledge and approval of Thai authorities there was no arrest warrant for him, neither had the Red Notice been issued.

It does not matter how good or competent the Thai investigation team is, they have no jurisdiction outside of Thailand. How do you suggest they could have apprehended him outside Thailand's borders?

Officially he can return after 03 Sept 2027 when the statue of limitations becomes active.

It would have been easier and cheaper to surrender to authorities , pay compensation to the relatives of the dead policeman then go to court and get a suspended sentance.

Must have cost them more in bribes by now to keep him at liberty to come and go .

You have information confirming that someone (who?) has been paying bribes to keep him at liberty when it cost nothing for him to legitimately stay in a another country out of the jurisdiction of the Thai authorities? It would be really interesting to see what evidence you have!

The same exact way that any foreign law enforcement agency works in Thailand - they work collaboratively, locals make the arrest, process him and he gets escorted back to Thailand in cuffs. Happens regularly in countries around the world. Obviously.

Haha, you actually believe he’s just living his normal life abroad without putting RB money to work “under the table” to allow him to have that life? That’s naive, I must say.

This whole episode is the most publicly cynical and hypocritical load of manure they have ever done... as it completely proves that the Thai legal system can be maipulated by money and power, and it is ultimately very damaging to Thailand as it basically says that Thailand is a plutocracy.

It is a disgusting reflection on the real values of Thai society here, openly for all to see who have an once of intelligence... poor optics.

Do you really think he'd fly commercial and go through immigration? On his own Thai passport?
