Epstein’s brother accuses Trump in FBI murder tip

A bombshell accusation has erupted from the newly released Epstein files, with Jeffrey Epstein’s brother claiming President Donald Trump was behind the disgraced financier’s death. The stunning allegation was revealed in a tip sent directly to the FBI and uncovered in a fresh dump of Department of Justice documents. The claim reignites one of the most explosive controversies surrounding Epstein’s 2019 jailhouse death.

According to the files, Mark Epstein submitted an online tip to the FBI’s National Threat Operations Center on February 22, 2023. In it, he alleged that his brother was murdered in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York. He claimed Epstein did not die by suicide after his conviction on child sex offenses.

The tip, confirmed by The Independent in a phone call with Mark Epstein, was forwarded by an unidentified FBI Threat Intake Examiner to a special agent. The submission included Mark Epstein’s personal contact information and IP address, both redacted in the public release. Despite the seriousness of the claim, Mark Epstein said no law enforcement agency ever contacted him to follow up.

The wording of the tip was blunt and explosive. “Jeffrey Epstein was murdered in his jail cell,” it read. “I have reason to believe he was killed because he was about to name names. I believe Presient (sic) Trump authorized is (sic) murder.”

In an additional section, he urged authorities to contact him and noted that his connection to Epstein was “obvious.” Mark Epstein declined further comment beyond confirming he submitted the tip. The FBI has been contacted for comment.

The White House responded by pointing to a Department of Justice press release dated January 3. That release followed the publication of more than three million additional pages under the Epstein Files Transparency Act. It warned that the production may include fake or falsely submitted materials, as everything sent to the FBI by the public was included.

The DOJ release also said some documents contain untrue and sensationalist claims against President Trump. It added that the claims are unfounded and false, and said that if they had any credibility, they would have been weaponized against Trump already. The statement directly rejected the allegations contained in the tip.

Mark Epstein has repeatedly doubled down on his belief that his brother was murdered. Last month, he told NewsNation that new autopsy facts would be coming out in February that he said would prove his claim. “There are only three ways to die in prison,” he said. “Suicide, natural causes or murder. And Jeff was murdered.”

In 2025, he told BBC Newsnight and NewsNation that his brother had “dirt” on powerful people. He said Epstein had claimed during the 2016 election that revealing what he knew could have canceled the race. While Jeffrey Epstein never shared details directly, his brother said he was certain Trump was among those involved.

Trump’s past comments about Epstein have resurfaced amid the controversy. In a 2002 interview with New York Magazine, Trump called Epstein a “terrific guy” and said they shared an affinity for beautiful women. After Epstein’s arrest in 2019, Trump said he had a falling-out with Epstein years earlier and had not spoken to him in 15 years.

Mark Epstein has disputed Trump’s version of events. In a November interview with NewsNation, he said Trump’s public statements were untrue and pointed to emails he said contradicted the president’s claims. The accusations now sit in the public record, even as officials dismiss them as unfounded.

Key Takeaways

  • Mark Epstein accused Trump in an FBI tip of authorizing his brother’s murder.

  • The DOJ says some Epstein file claims are false and sensationalist.

  • Epstein’s brother insists new autopsy facts will back his murder theory.

Luckily Mr President is a fine upstanding law abiding convicted felon, although being named thousands of time's in the files it can all be explained with the help of a black marker pen 🤔

Anybody who thinks Epstein killed himself is a foo. Too many coincidences and loose ends.

A tiny detail in a Justice Department document has set the internet on fire. A draft statement about Jeffrey Epstein’s death appears to be dated a day before he was actually found dead. The discovery has triggered a fresh wave of speculation about one of the most controversial deaths in recent history.

The document was released last month by the DOJ. It was part of a massive publication of around 3.5 million Epstein-related files. Online sleuths quickly zeroed in on what they see as a shocking inconsistency.

The draft statement appears to announce Epstein’s death. Epstein was found dead in his Manhattan jail cell on the morning of Friday, August 10, 2019. But the date on the draft document reads August 9, one full day earlier.

That detail has fueled claims that the death was somehow known in advance. Journalist and former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan flagged the issue on X. He wrote that unless it was a typo, the timing was “super weird.”

Another popular X account, Patriot Takes, with more than 460,000 followers, piled on. The account asked why the Trump administration would draft a release saying Epstein died a day before he actually did. The post ended with a blunt reaction: “Oh. Oh my.”

Questions about Epstein’s death have circulated for years. The official ruling was suicide by hanging, but the case has been dogged by controversy. A series of unusual details has kept conspiracy theories alive.

Epstein had been placed on suicide watch in late July 2019. He was found semi-conscious in his cell with marks on his neck. Just days later, on July 29, he was taken off suicide watch, only five days before his death.

Dr. Michael Baden, who was present during Epstein’s autopsy, added to the controversy. He said Epstein’s neck bone injuries were more consistent with a homicide. That claim has been repeatedly cited by those questioning the official ruling.

More oddities followed. Cameras in the Manhattan jail malfunctioned the night Epstein died. Footage of a supposed earlier suicide attempt was accidentally erased. His cell was reportedly littered with what appeared to be dozens of articles of clothing.

There was also confusion over the noose. Reports said the noose Epstein allegedly used was never “definitively identified.” Each detail added more fuel to years of speculation and doubt.

Podcast host Clint Russell of “Liberty Lockdown” said he checked the DOJ site himself. He confirmed that the draft statement is real. He noted that U.S. attorney Geoffrey Berman’s name appears on the document.

Russell also pointed out a political twist. Berman was later fired by President Donald Trump at the request of then-Attorney General Bill Barr. The removal came after a messy public dispute.

Russell said it “gets weirder.” He noted that Barr announced Berman’s resignation less than a year later. Berman denied resigning and was then removed by Barr on June 20, 2020.

Trump initially denied involvement. Later reporting confirmed that Trump had Berman removed. For online commentators, the chain of events has only deepened suspicions.

As the newly released files continue to be examined, more scrutiny is expected. The draft date issue has become the latest flashpoint. For many, it ensures that questions around Epstein’s death are far from settled.

Key Takeaways

  • A DOJ draft on Epstein’s death is dated a day before he was found dead.

  • Online figures are calling the timing “weird” and raising fresh suspicions.

  • Longstanding oddities and political fallout are fuelling renewed scrutiny.
