it means ROUND , what was she trying to describe ??? :D

He he... well.. not me in this instance... :o

Actually she was likening it to a lemon ? She understands the word "round", so not sure why she wouldn't be able to articulate that meaning to me.. :D

Totster,

Are you sure it wasn't KHOM ขม 'bitter' if the reference was to a lemon?

No.. definitely wasn't khom.. the reference was to the shape of a lemon..

Thanks for the reply though !

I think she must have been referring to "round"... but now I'm more confused... we're actually discussing chocolates, and I think she is talking about Ferrero Rocher, but she kept confusing me with the lemon shaped description. :D

Thanks

Glom does mean circular, however any chance she was saying 'glom glom' กลมกล่อม which means mellow ; full-flavoured ; soft ; sweet ; rich ; delicate ; ripe

As long as she wasn't looking at you and saying กลมกลึง (glom glueng) = plump, you are probably fine. :o

I think you may have cracked it... she did say "glom glom"... I thought she was just doing the repeating thingy ()

That would describe Ferraro Rocher anyway... (doesn't account for the lemon reference though)

Well done Tywais !

Don't forget that when Thai people say lemon what they really mean is lime. This makes sense as limes are similar in size and shape to Ferraro Rocher.

After talking with her, this is indeed exactly where the confusion was.. should have realised really :o

Back to my comment regarding กลมกล่อม , which I should have transliterated as 'glom glawm', this can be difficult for the untrained ear to distinguish from กลม ๆ. The latter would be accentuating the roundness of the object, such as meaning very round. Should show her the text here and see which was the one she used. But on the other hand, she may be getting bored of you asking. :D

กลม ๆ (glom glom) is probably what she was saying. depending on the context, the repeat can actually make it more vague, similar to 'rounded', 'roundish', 'kind of round' or it might just be adding cuteness - in effect, something like 'mmm...look at those lovely round ferrero rochers!'.

ไอ้กลม ๆ นั่นอยู่ไหน?

where's that round thingo?

กลมดิก

absolutely round

กล๊มกลม

very very round

all the best

I think กลมกลึง is an adjective to describe woman's shape that look like Marilyn Monroe

and also to describe woman's hip that look like J-Lo.
